Two ways to save lives: Tennessee Donor Services volunteers with Second Harvest
August 6, 2025

The TDS team showing up to serve at Second Harvest Food Bank.
At Tennessee Donor Services (TDS), saving lives is at the heart of everything we do. Each day, we work to honor the gift of organ, eye and tissue donation, giving hope to patients waiting for a second chance at life. But recently, our mission to serve the community extended beyond the transplant world and into the realm of food security.
Our team had the privilege of volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank, a local organization dedicated to ending hunger in our region. Like TDS, Second Harvest is committed to saving lives, only their gift comes in the form of nourishment, dignity, and hope for families facing food insecurity.

Working together in the warehouse and distribution center, our staff rolled up their sleeves to sort and package 3,378 pounds of food, which translates into 2,800 meals for neighbors in need. Every box packed reminded us that small acts of service can add up to something lifesaving.
Two Missions. One Goal: Saving Lives.
At first glance, organ donation and food insecurity may seem unrelated. But they share a powerful common thread: the preservation of life and dignity.
- TDS helps save lives through organ, eye and tissue donation.
- Second Harvest saves lives by ensuring no family goes hungry.

We’re proud to stand alongside Second Harvest and play a part in feeding the mission of care beyond the walls of our work.
❤️ Be the gift.
