remembering our

donor heroes

Jon Grindstaff

In loving memory of my beautiful son Jon who passed away unexpectedly two years ago. Jon was only 33 years old when he passed away. He was a social butterfly who loved to travel and loved sharing his life experiences with everyone he knew and met. Jon loved the outdoors and enjoyed being on the lake, hiking and playing golf. He had a passion for basketball that he excelled in while playing in High School. Jon loved all animals and adored his 3 pups (Memphis, Walter and Francis). Jon was born into a big loving and caring family that adored him. He loved being with his family. Jon had a passion for helping people and worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant. He truly loved helping people recover from their physical challenges. Jon had a big, caring heart and a giving spirit. It brings me comfort knowing that his final selfless act of giving continues on by helping others with the biggest gift of all – the gift of life. Jon saved 6 lives and is truly my hero. There is not a day that goes by that I do not miss your contagious laughter, or our talks and that big, beautiful smile that could light up any room. Until we meet again, I will carry you with me forever and always close to my heart.

Love Mom.

Saying thank you

Many donor families find that corresponding with the transplant recipient or recipients can be a powerful experience. Donor families can take comfort in sharing stories and sending well wishes to those who live on because of their loved one.

Should you choose to connect, we're here to help. Letters and cards can be a tremendous gift to both the donor families and recipients. To protect everyone, we provide guidelines for communication. Names remain confidential unless both parties agree to share those with one another, and we provide a correspondence address. We are happy to share sample letters to help you get started.

For more information about corresponding with recipients, please call us at 615-564-3649.

We can only do it together
