Tennessee Donor Services (TDS) proudly launches the 2026 Tennessee Donor Services (TDS) & Meharry Medical College Donation Immersion Summer Program with the first cohort of first and second-year medical students.

The program kicked off with six Meharry students gaining unique firsthand experience in the field of donation and transplantation by exploring the science, compassion, and collaboration that make lifesaving donation possible. The first cohort closed out their experience in final presentations sharing moving self-reflections, lessons learned along the way, and highlighted their newfound passion for advocating for organ, eye and tissue donation.

In an inspiring moment, two students revealed that their experience has sparked an interest in pursuing transplant surgery as a future specialty.

We are grateful for this opportunity with Meharry Medical College, which underscores Tennessee Donor Services’ commitment to community-centered care, trust-building, and improving health outcomes in every community.

We are so proud of what these future healthcare leaders have accomplished, and we look forward to them carrying the message of donation into their future careers and communities.
