Timmy Walker

Organ Donor

/

April 22, 2024

Timmy was loved and is missed by many. I still wake up going this is just a nightmare, but it never changes. I cry everyday for him. I want him back, but that’s just me being selfish because I know he is pain-free now. Timmy had a lot of health problems due to his diabetes but died unexpectedly on April 22, 2024, from a heart attack. He took in my kids as his own, and we had custody of my niece and nephew. Timmy always was helping anyone who needed it. Timmy would give the shirt off his back if anyone needed it. His saying was “just holler,” and that’s what he meant. My kids miss him a lot. It’s hard to explain to my niece and nephew about death when I don’t understand it all. I know time heals, but it’s still hard knowing he will never call out to me. Hearing “shorty” was always a relief to hear. Timmy loved everyone, even his enemies. Timmy loved the Lord and preached at different churches. He wanted to teach everyone the gospel. Time wasn’t in our favor, but I will see him again one day. I can’t wait. At first, I was mad at him for leaving me, but I know he would’ve stayed if he could have. He hated to see me upset and everyday I have been. As I sit here and write this in tears, I am also smiling knowing he isn’t in any kind of pain. I hope the people that received his organs knows how special they really are and that is the last act of kindness and love he wanted to do. I want to keep his name alive and his story.

Saying thank you

Many donor families find that corresponding with the transplant recipient or recipients can be a powerful experience. Donor families can take comfort in sharing stories and sending well wishes to those who live on because of their loved one.

Should you choose to connect, we're here to help. Letters and cards can be a tremendous gift to both the donor families and recipients. To protect everyone, we provide guidelines for communication. Names remain confidential unless both parties agree to share those with one another, and we provide a correspondence address. We are happy to share sample letters to help you get started.

For more information about corresponding with recipients, please call us at 615-564-3649.

We can only do it together
